Letter to the editor, D. Lautner re: ‘The Lady’

To the editor,

This is in reference to your 1600 word beat down of our president dated 11/05/2025. Most readers failed to progress through the third paragraph due to the length of the article, which didn’t keep their attention.

I, however, made it to paragraph 13 in which you stated, “To fight back in a moral rather than a physical way? Endless protests and marches (the town of Jefferson has one every Friday at Chestnut and Lincoln Way).”

Well, I was a hidden spectator that noon, 11/08/25 and found four pr0testers and eight cardboard signs that were displayed. Let’s do the math – 8,700 residents in the county and four protesters equates to .000459770114943 of 1 percent participation rate. Now that is making a startling impressive statement. I’m not going to make “the pimple on a fat man’s behind” analogy because you couldn’t find the small pimple.

A large majority of the Lady’s opinions continually bash, bad mouth, criticize, find fault, attack, berate, crucify, and denounce the president. You don’t live here. Yes, you graduated from high school here, and make token visits to see friends and relations.

Yes, I don’t believe or like everything the president does, but I don’t spew venom like a poisonous snake. You have the right to complain and state your views. But what not use that pent up energy and frustration to show us what Joe and Kamala did in their four years as president and vice president. You are only hurting your party by hurling insults.

In writing an opinion statement, it should be short, concise, and to the point, around 500 words, supported by facts to back up your beliefs. I have never had a journalism class on writing opinions, but received a short course from none other than your sister.

Denny Lautner, Jefferson
